A Girl Like Me By Ni Ni Simone - December 8, 2016

Just recently I embarked on a new reading journey. I started reading a book by Ni Ni Simone, oh how I wish I would've found her books while I was in like middle/high school. I just hate how late I am with discovering her books. -_-

I am so excited, becuase I love reading new material; like a new author, new book it's just a good feeling.

Just A Little Peek...

“This the spot?” Legacy said, looking at the abandoned warehouse building. They were out in the fucking desert about forty-five minutes outside of Los Angeles.
“Hell yeah,” Quan said as he was looking at the GPS on his phone. He already told the crew to stay back a little bit.
Once they were out of the car, Legacy put his .40 in his back pocket, and Quan grabbed the duffle bag filled with the two million dollars. It wasn’t exactly two million, but he knew them dumbasses wasn’t going to sit around and count two million dollars.
Just as the mysterious person said in the text, Quan and Legacy went around to the back door. Once they went through the door, they heard Sydney’s cries.
“Fuck y’all at?” Quan barked and his voice echoed throughout the building. Quan was ready to blow someone’s brain out and get his niece back. The entire building was dark, and Legacy didn’t like this because he ain’t know what the fuck was going on or who the fuck was about to pop out.
“Chill out, playa. Where my money at?” Bigs said, coming out of the shadows with his fat ass. Both Quan and Legacy wanted to laugh in Bigs’ face, but they refused to because they didn’t want it to effect Sydney’s well-being.
“Right here, now where Sydney at?” Quan said, pointing to the duffle bag that was on his shoulders.
            POW! POW!
Bigs dropped dead, surprising the fuck out of Legacy and Quan. Instantly they brought out their guns aiming, ready to open fire on any and everything. Shit was getting weird by the second and all they really cared about was getting Sydney.
“Put the guns down boys!” Tanesha said, coming into Legacy’s and Quan’s eye view.
            “Oh, this bitch,” Legacy commented.
“Legacy, don’t get loose lips before little miss Sydney don’t make it back home to wifey,” Tanesha laughed. Tanesha brought up her gun, “Hand me the fucking duffle bag!” she spat and Quan kicked it over to her ass.
“Bring the little bitch in.” Tanesha motioned, and a man with a sleeping, Sydney came into eyes view. Quan viewed Sydney’s body and saw she had a scratch on her head; he didn’t like that at all. It made him want to Kill Tanesha.
“You broke into my shop, huh?” Legacy said as the man placed Sydney on the ground.
“Nah, he did,” Tanesha giggled as she pointed to Bigs’ dead body. Legacy didn’t care why she did it all he was worried about was killing this bitch.
Legacy hated for all of this to go on in front of Sydney, but it had to happen. The man turned around that’s when Legacy decided to get it popping!
            POW! POW!
Legacy put two bullets in the mysterious man’s head and then let Quan handle Tanesha. He shot at Tanesha and she ducked, the bullet missing her.
“Oh, the hood rat know how to dodge a bullet, I ain’t surprised,” Quan commented and Legacy went to get Sydney who was now up and crying. Legacy knew he needed to hurry up and take Sydney out of there. He let Quan finish up their job and made his way out to the car.
            POW! POW!
            “FUCKKK!!!!”

CHAPTER ONE
“What club?” Kia asked Devon for clarification. As usual, they were doing their normal walk from class to the parking lot.
“SPICE or whatever, you should come through; bring Legend too,” Devon joked, and Kia rolled her eyes, “Watch it.”
“I guess I’ll go,” Kia said.
Devon nodded, “Good. Look; text me when you on the way, alright?” he asked, and Kia nodded then got into her car.
The day was now Friday, and Kia was excited because she finally got a break from school and plus, she was off this weekend. Sydney was with Quan and Amerie while Kia was in class. As she drove throughout the streets of LA, she made sure to let Quan know that she was on the way to pick Sydney up. Kia pulled into their driveway then got out, going to the front door. She rang the doorbell then stood back waiting, “Hey, mama!” Kia said once the door was open. Sydney was in Amerie’s arms. Sydney immediately reached out for her mother and Kia gladly accepted.
            “Hey, girl,” Amerie said.
“Hey, how are you? Where the hell is Quan?” Kia asked, looking around.
“Out with Legacy, you know how those two are,” Amerie replied, giggling to herself a little bit.
Kia nodded because it was true, “Well, how was she?”
“Fine as always but I’m about to go into work in about another hour, so I’ll see you two beauties later,” Amerie said.
Kia got Sydney’s bag then went back out the door. As Kia put Sydney in her car seat, she began to speak her baby gibberish and Kia could only pretend she knew what she was saying.
Once Kia was in the car, she called up Legacy to ask him if he wanted to go to the club with her, “Yo baby girlll!” Legacy voiced through Kia’s phone speaker.
Sydney heard his voice and immediately began to get happy, “Hey, love.”
“What you up to?” he asked.
Kia exhaled, “Well, I just picked up my baby, and we’re on the way home. I was wondering if you wanted to come to SPICE with me tonight?” Kia asked hoping for a ‘yes.'
“Of course, if that’s what you want to do. I’ll go with you, baby,” Legacy said which made Kia happy. “I’ll pick you up too.”
Throughout the whole week, Legacy had been dealing with that Devon and Omar bullshit, so he wouldn’t mind getting his mind off that for an hour or so. “Alright, I’ll see you then,” Kia said and ended the call.
***

That night, Kia wore a white, skin tight bodysuit and paired it with a pair of jeans and some olive green lace up heels. Once she was done with a bit of makeup, she began to unwrap her hair, letting it drop flawlessly. She was glad her mother could watch Sydney on such short notice. Legacy said he was going to be by at nine to get Kia. Kia, also let Devon know that she and Legacy we’re going to be coming together.
It wasn’t every day that Kia got a chance to get dolled up and go out, so she cherished every moment when she did. Just as she exited her bathroom, her phone began to vibrate with a text from Legacy.
            I’m outside baby.
After she read that, she quickly got her things and exited her home. She locked up her home and then waltzed out to Legacy’s car.
“No, no you not wearing that,” Legacy said looking at Kia’s attire.
She jokingly rolled her eyes, “I know you not serious, just let it slide for tonight,” she said with her lip poked out.
He smacked his teeth then began to drive in the direction of the club, “Uh just for tonight. I guess but if any nigga looks at you with lust filled eyes, they catching this right hook,” Legacy said truthfully.
The drive to the club wasn’t a long one at all, and before the couple knew it, they were exiting the car. Since Legacy knew the owners, he was guaranteed entrance without waiting in line. Legacy was dressed in all black. Black Timbs, black Robin jeans and a black Louis Vuitton shirt with gold inseams. Legacy couldn’t resist wearing gold on his neck or wrist so that he did.
“My nigga Legacy come right on it!” The bouncer said as he greeted Legacy. SPICE was one of the hottest clubs in L.A. and it showed. Every night the club was opened was packed.
“My song is onnn!” Kia cheered, slightly swaying her hips, “Yeah I’m pretty but I’m loco!” she sang along to Yung M.A.’s Ooouuu.
Legacy’s phone went off with a text from Quan and the moment it did, he told Kia he was going to be right back. Kia rolled her eyes but continued to sing along. Just as she was about to head towards the bar, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Turning around, she saw Devon, “Hey!” she said as they shared a hug.
“What’s good? Mind coming with me; I got Sydney’s birthday gift in my car. Sorry I’m so late,” he said and Kia nodded, “Sure.”
Kia then followed Devon to his car, “So I wasn’t sure what to get her so I figured I would just get her a bunch of clothes,” Devon said with a smile making Kia laugh.

***

“Just the muthafucka’ I need to see,” Legacy said, and he looked at Kia and Devon from across the parking lot. Legacy grabbed his glock from the trunk of his car ready to open fire on Devon’s bitch ass. It was payback season.
Quan looked over at the sight and nodded with a gremlin smirk, “It’s show time.” When Quan got the word from Legacy to come through to the club, neither of them had no idea that Devon was going to be here but it looks like Kia did.
As Devon was talking with Kia, she watched as her brother and man came over to the two. Legacy had his gun up aiming at Devon, at this point, she was trying to figure out what was going on.
“What the fuck is going on?!” Kia shouted.
“Baby, get out of the way,” Legacy said, but Kia didn’t budge. She stepped in front of Devon to protect him. According to her, Devon didn’t do shit to get shot so why is Legacy holding a gun up to him?
“Tell me what the fuck is going on!” Kia shouted, but Legacy ignored him.
“Tell her Mr. Devon, tell her how much of a fake nigga you are!” Quan said.
            “What?” Kia said in confusion.
“Get out the way, Ki. Forreal, this ain’t got shit to do with you,” Quan said.
“I’m not tryna hit you, ma!” Legacy shouted, putting his index finger on the cold trigger. The suspense picked up, and Legacy figured Kia wouldn't going nowhere so he did what the fuck he had to do.
“Fuck it, if you hit me, I’m hitting her!!” Devon said, and Legacy couldn’t waste any more time.
            POW! POW! POW!
            “Legacy, look what you did!!!”
Quan and Legacy watched as the limp body fall to the ground with no life left in it, and that’s when they knew they had to get out of there fast. Kia turned around to see Devon’s limp body fall to the ground, and instantly she fell down with him and began to cry.
“Ki-Kia. I’ve been lying to you this entire time. I’m so-sorry,” Devon coughed out.
Kia wiped her tears, “What?! What are you talking about?” she screamed. Legacy ran off, but Quan wouldn’t leave his sister, so he went over, snatching her up.
“GET OFF OF ME!!” she screamed, trying to get out of Quan’s grasp and as much as she tried to, she just couldn’t. Quan was way too strong for her. Kia began to cry her eyes out while she was in her brother’s grasp.
Quan just smacked his teeth because Kia is doing all this damn crying, yet this fuck nigga was using her.
“Quan, get off of meeee!!” she said calmly and Quan shook his head, “Nope, not until we get to the car,” he said with his grip remaining.
They soon approached Quan’s car, and he opened the back seat and put a distraught Kia in the back.  He shut the door harshly before getting into the driver’s seat and taking off. Kia sat in the backseat with her head bent down. She then brought her knees up to her chest and buried her head between her legs.

***

On the other hand, Legacy was speeding throughout the streets trying to get far away from the club as possible. He just couldn’t believe that Kia actually jumped in front of that fraud ass nigga to save him. Lucky for her, his aim game was too clean, so he was able to shoot Devon without hurting Kia. He just couldn’t believe shorty. Truth be told, Legacy didn’t know how to handle that; did Kia have feelings for this nigga? Have they fucked around before? Many questions was running through his head that he didn’t care whether they were going to be answered soon or not
Legacy soon found himself at his crib. Once he got to his crib, he dove through his cabinets in search for some type of liquor. He needed something to get his mind off the last act he just committed. At last, he looked in the cabinet above his refrigerator to find two bottles of Grey Goose.
“Fuck it,” Legacy said using his six foot three frame to his advantage as he stretched out his arm to get the two bottles. After retrieving the bottles, he walked over to his living room then flopped on the couch. Legacy didn’t even cut on the TV he just instantly opened his bottle and to it to the head.
In under two hours and two Grey Goose bottles later, Legacy was officially loose as a fucking Goose. Legacy stood up to only fall back down, “Shit,” he laughed.
He felt on the coffee table to get his phone knocking down the remotes and decorations in the process. He got his phone and the minute he cut it on all the words looked like Spanish to him but some way, somehow, he managed to call Kenya.
“Yes, Legacy?” Kenya said the moment she answered the call.
“K-Kenya baby what ‘da hell you doing?” he asked, slurring his words a little.
Kenya immediately smirked because she knew that he was drunk and when Legacy was drunk, he was down for anything. Kia heard of Devon getting shot but that wasn’t her damn problem, nigga should’ve been on his ‘A’ game. As it stood now, Devon wasn’t getting any type of pay.
“Legacy, what about ya’ lil’ bitch? Uh, what’s her name? Kia? Why you ain’t call her ass?” Kenya challenged.
“Fuck ‘dat bi-bitch!!” Legacy said, getting defensive.
“Legacy, whether you like it or not, I’m the realest on your team. These other girls ain’t down for you, like I am down for you. Which is why we should be together,” Kenya said with an eye roll.
Legacy exhaled overdramatically, “I ain’t trying to hear all that,” Legacy said. Shit, sober or drunk, he still ain’t have time to be hearing Kenya’s ass talk about them being together. “Legacy, I’m about to come over, okay?” Kenya told him then hung up. He shrugged lazily then threw the phone, and it landed on the carpet.
***
Kia stood in front of her bathroom mirror looking at herself. She looked horrible as hell, like a zombie. She had been crying nonstop, but finally, she decided to pull herself and go to the hospital to see Devon. Since Quan hauled her off, she wasn’t able to see how he was doing, or none of that. For all, she knew he could be dead.
“Breaking News! Still under investigation; a young man shot in club SPICE parking lot has been rushed to the hospital. The victim is currently in critical condition. At the moment, there are no leads to any suspects. If you have any information, please contact-” Before the announcer muttered another word, Kia turned the TV off and threw the remote on her bed.
Kia recently changed out of her club clothes and then decided to make her way towards the hospital to be with Devon. As she drove throughout the streets, the events that happened two hours ago rushed through her head, and she had to admit she hated the way things played out but it was obvious she was missing a piece of the puzzle.
Kia exhaled and got out of the rental car, soon approaching the entrance to the hospital. Which each step she took, she felt as if her heart was dropping with each one she took.
“Devon Ingram,” Kia spoke hesitantly to the receptionist. The young man looked at Kia and began to type the name in the computer.
“Room four thirteen. He is currently in the intensive care unit, and he should be out of surgery, so you’re good to go,” he told Kia. After thanking him, she made her way up to the designated floor, hoping that his surgery went well.
Kia soon approached the room, saying a silent prayer before going in.
            Beep…beep…beep.
The only sound that could be heard throughout the room was the various machines. Kia heart instantly began to ache. As she crept up to his bed, Devon’s head slightly turned towards her.
“C-close the door,” he got out, and Kia obeyed doing just that.
“Devon. I am sorry so-” Kia began to express how sorry she was, but Devon soon cut her off.
“You don’t have shit to be sorry for,” he coughed out.
“Devon, we could talk about this later. I know you’re trying to recover from surgery,” Kia spoke quickly. She didn’t want him to try to do too much while he was in such a weak state.
“Nah, I’ve been recovering for about an hour. I’m good, but I need to tell you the truth about myself,” Devon said and Kia’s heart dropped the first thing that came to her mind was about the allegation Legacy, and Quan made about him from the beginning, and her ass didn’t even listen.
“I’m listening,” Kia said, preparing herself for the worst.
“How about I just start off from the beginning. So, I have a sister by the name of Tanesha. Everyone know her ass, like everyone. A bitch by the name of Kenya is close friends with her, well they ain’t close but they friends. Kenya needed me to do her a favor, and that was to shoot Legacy…”
Kia squinted her eyes at him and began to realize that it all made senses. That was why Legacy was so damn mad.
“Wait, wait, wait. You’ve been lying this entire time?” Kia asked in disbelief. Devon sadly nodded his head ‘yes.'
“What in the hell!” Kia said as she got up. “So basically, Legacy had a right to shoot your ass.” She realized.
“Kia-” Devon began to speak, but of course she ain’t want to hear it. She didn’t want to hear shit else he had to say.
“I don’t want to hear shit else from you. Rot in hell!” Kia said, leaving him in the room. Kia tried her best to process what the hell just happened, but words couldn’t fathom how blinded she was.
Devon was using her to get to Legacy; it made sense now. Kia thought she had made a legit friend, but he was just a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Kia knew what time it was; it was time to try to get her man back because she knew that Legacy was beyond mad at her.

This Blogging Thing - December 7, 2016

I wanted to get more in touch with my thoughts.

No scratch that, i wanted to write down my thoughts to give people a look at what crosses my mind day to day, or maybe, what I go through. Idk. I'm just here lol.

As it stands now it is Wednesday December 7th and it's four in the morning... I know what you're thinking. What is she doing up? Well to be quite honest writing and college have my sleep schedule all messed up but it's okay I've gotten used to it, so I don't even care anymore. I was always a night owl anyways, writing and college just gave me more of a reason to stay up.
This is actually not as bad as I thought it would be, it's like writing but like writing about myself, technically lol. Okay let me stop.
Any who, that is all.
xoxo...
